The nomenclature for the STACK and SCOOP Plays was derived from geographical, opposed to geological, acronyms. The STACK Play stands for Sooner Trend (oil field), Anadarko (basin), Canadian and Kingfisher (counties). The SCOOP Play stands for South-Central Oklahoma Oil Province.
